The Boarding House

I'm interested in the reference to the "boarding house on the west side of the city" in Las Vegas, where, as the article states, the black entertainers were made to stay. Anyone have any reference to that address/location? I'd like to check it out, seeing that I live in this whore-town. Well, I don't "live" here, I reside. There is a rather unique neighborhood just west of the strip that has larger houses of early 60's-70's type architecture (beautiful old homes) and I'm wondering if it was stuck in there somewhere. Off of Alta Drive. Near Rancho. Sammy was/is one of my favorites. Went to his funeral, etc. etc... My Goberian is named after him. My lab after Dean. Still reading? I need medication. "Overnight success"

This reference is badly supported and confusing. Which night? In the Intro, there's a statement, "Davis returned to the trio and became an overnight sensation following a nightclub performance at Ciro's (in West Hollywood) after the 1951 Academy Awards." (That links to the 24th awards show for the films of 1951, which was held on March 20, 1952. I suspect it should be linked to the 23rd awards show of March 29, 1951, if anything.) What's the connection between that night's performance and the Academy Awards? Then in the section on Career, it states, "On March 23, 1951, the Will Mastin Trio appeared at Ciro's as the opening act for headliner Janis Paige." It goes on to indicate that this was the event that brought him success, and that he then recorded several albums. In an article used as a reference on this page, it mentioned Davis being befriended by Frank Sinatra and working with him around this time. Since there's no definitive single date that set Davis' career off, these references should be eliminated.

Furthermore, I can't find any corroboration that the big night at Ciro's was on March 23rd; numerous sources confirm it was March of 1951, but those that identify the 23rd seem to be taking the information directly from this page as opposed to being a legitimate source.
