This is a list of countries with McDonald's restaurants. McDonald's is the second largest chain of fast food restaurants in the world,[1] with more than 36,000 outlets worldwide.[2] The majority of McDonald's outlets outside of the United States are franchises.

The biggest temporary McDonald's restaurant in the world was opened during 2012 Summer Olympics in London, which had 3,000 square metres (32,000 sq ft).[3][4][5][6] The biggest still standing is in Will Rogers Turnpike, Oklahoma.[6]

The list of countries follows the company's own calculation, and contains several non-sovereign territories.

Needs an explanation what should be changed and why. Time has passed since April 2021, so replacing the article with this old version edit request won't happen. – NJD-DE (talk) 15:14, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Add the flags back.

[edit]

Someone removed the flags from the table.

The flags allow users to more easily visualize the countries, so I highly recommend adding them back — Preceding unsigned comment added by BrendonJH (talkcontribs) 15:33, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The same, but it is another article, not the reference. Reing (talk) 21:19, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In the first few sentences it states that it is the largest fast food chain.

[edit]

This is no longer true as now with Subway having more locations. I will be editing it. Also I don't know if I should post about me editing it.

Iran

[edit]

Iran should be dark grey in the map 2604:3D08:E17E:9890:1909:C945:EC66:544C (talk) 15:59, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There was NEVER McDonalds in Iran. Someone keeps adding this to the article but it's not cited by any reliable sources and there's not a single photo or document to back up this myth. Any references to it seem to be based on the uncited Wikipedia entry which repeatedly gets added then removed.
Furthermore, I know many people from Iran and none of them have ever been aware of any McDonalds in Iran. There is an anecdotal claim of an attempt to open one in 1994 which was then burned down, but no concrete proof that it was even official or anything. Iraq

[edit]

I was unable to confirm McDonald's presence in United States' military bases in Iraq during the war, nor can I confirm its presence currently in the Green Zone or anywhere else. Closest thing I could find was a news article about MaDonal, and it referred to it as "McDonald's" in the headline. [3] If anyone has information regarding the subject please mention it here, otherwise I believe all mentions of Iraq should be removed from the article. Further information about McDonald's restaurants

[edit]

This is a list of countries with McDonald's restaurants. McDonald's is the largest chain of fast-food restaurants in the world,[40][failed verification][41] with around 45,000 outlets worldwide as of late 2024, most of which are located in North America, Asia, Europe, South America and Oceania.[42] Around two-thirds of McDonald's outlets outside the United States are franchises, incl. those in Japan, Canada, Australia, Finland, Denmark, France, Israel, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.

The list of countries follows the company's own calculation and contains several non-sovereign territories. Today, or as of late 2024, there are over 15,000 McDonald's restaurants in the United States, over 5,000 in Japan, over 4,500 in mainland China, over 2,200 in France, over 1,800 in Brazil, over 1,600 in Canada, over 1,500 in Germany, over 1,400 in the United Kingdom, over 1,100 in Australia, over 780 in Mexico and over 740 in the Philippines. McDonald's ceased to be operational in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan in previous years. 2603:7000:B500:5D4:292B:B909:274B:E9FF (talk) 20:11, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
